Boy's Basketball:  Mustang Showdown Performers

Doug Anderson, 6-6, 2009, Michigan Mustangs- by far the most exciting player to watch play over the weekend, just sick hops.  11 dunks in the championship game.  Won the MVP while his team won the ship.

Keith Appling, 6-2, 2010, REACH Legends- really excels in the fast pace of AAU basketball, got to the basket time after time.  Led REACH is scoring while playing up on the 17-u team.

Cameron Boli, 6-4, 2009, Central All-Stars- the wing-guard led his team to the semi-finals by averaging a double-double, even after spraining an ankle in the first game on Friday.

Justin Edmonds, 6-3, 2010, Next Generation- played double duty for the teams that have no affiliation with NGS.  Put up a ton of points but was mostly a one man show.

DeAngelo Haley, 6-3, 2009, Detroit Fire- led the Fire in scoring and helped them advance to the 17-u finals.  Haley can explode to the basket or step out a drain a 3-ball.

LaDonte “Buckets” Henton, 6-5, 2011, Michigan Mustangs- Buckets played up on both the 16-u and 17-u Mustang teams and did more than hold his own.  Led the 16’s in scoring while getting 10 a game with the 17’s.

Jon Horford, 6-8, 2010, Michigan Mustangs- cleaned up the glass for the Stangs and also blocked a ton of shots.  His ability to pass and score on the high post broke defenses down.

Dedo Jackson, 5-9, 2010, Michigan Mustangs-the PG did his job by running the show and delivering shots out equally to his teammates.  When he wasn’t tossing assist he was forcing turnovers and getting his own shots.  3-point shot is much improved.

Alex Jones, 5-11, 2011, TEAM Basketball- tough combo guard with a high basketball I.Q., can really get after it defensively.  Needs to polish his offensive skills but work ethic seems to be there.

Patrick Lucas-Perry, 5-10, 2011, Michigan Mustangs- switched on and off from the one and the two all weekend, and looked good at both.  Made some big plays defensively as well as showing off his offensive skills by getting to the basket, and hitting shots from the elbow and 3-point range.

AJ Mathews, 6-3, 2011, Common Bond- solid wing with the ability to score in a variety of ways.  6-3 with a solid frame that he uses to bully his opponent.  Led CB in the 15-u Championship while taking home MVP honors.

Kallante Miller, 6-4, 2009, Detroit Fire- athletic and physical player that played four different positions over the weekend.  He gives Fire that swagger that every team needs.

Juwan Moody, 5-9, 2011, Michigan Mustangs- came up with a big shot every time the Stangs needed one.  Showed off his range by hitting some deep 3-pointers.  Did a heck of a job of running the point and setting up teammates.

CJ Olaniyan, 6-5, 2010 TEAM Basketball - very strong and physical player that also has some bounce.  He just over powers his opponent on the glass.  Needs to develop some post moves because he relies too much on his strength and hops.

Dion Sims, 6-6, 2009, REACH Legends- credit the wing because he played every position on the floor but I would still like to see him spend some more energy defensively.  Did a solid job when he ran the point.

Drew Valentine, 6-5, 2009, Michigan Mustangs- has stepped up as the floor general of the talented Stangs.  Got to the basket and hit some big “and 1’s” when the going got tough for his team.  Made all-tourney team for the 17-u championship team.

Trey Ziegler, 6-4, 2010, Team Detroit- Mr. Fundamental carried his team, from his PG position, by leading them in points, assist, steals, and rebounds.  He led them to the semi-finals where they fell to the Mustangs but were able to keep the score close.
